The NAA was organized on June 27, 2000. Dues were discussed and established as an annual fee of one cent per year of graduation (a 1967 graduate would pay a yearly fee of $19.67). The 2nd meeting was held on August 10, 2000 at which time Tammy Franks (1977) and Evelyn Harmon (1955) agreed to co-chair the committee. On September 27, 2002 the first all-school reunion was held and described by Neosho Daily News staff writer, Michell Pippin as follows: "Literally hundreds of people gathered on Neosho's downtown square Saturday afternoon for the All-School Reunion's mini reunions. Arguably, it was the largest crowd the square has seen in a number of years. Among them were Neosho alumni from every grade, starting in the 1930's, leading all the way up to last year, the class of 2001. . . . . Reunion Hill became all the more colorful Saturday afternoon as Neosho High School Alumni painted their names and graduating years. In deed, the once black-top colored Sherman Road, is now a myriad of colors, a rainbow that stretches far behind Neosho High School, as classmates of long ago came together Saturday afternoon to leave their once forgotton legacies of mischief and rebellion behind just one more time." Buzz Ball, Neosho Daily News Editor and member of NHS Class of 1976, attended the banquet held Saturday night and wrote "A very touching moment at the banquet came when we all sang the school song. Leading us was the author of The Black And The Gold, Emery Prater, class of 1929. And on the piano was Vi Conrad, class of 1926. What a duo!!" |
